Abandoned Cart Events from WooCommerce to Intercom

Send real Woo cart and checkout events into Intercom with Sync Engine for Intercom. Recovery Series get a store trigger, not a spreadsheet.

Abandoned-cart messaging in Intercom only works if Intercom receives cart and checkout events and can identify the shopper. Sync Engine for Intercom syncs those WooCommerce events into Intercom, so a recovery Series has a real store trigger.

Install, connect with OAuth or an Access Token, and sync WordPress users. Cart abandoned and checkout abandoned follow logged-in shoppers, with a delay of 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours. The default is 1 hour.

The gap: Intercom Series without store events

A Series with nothing to trigger on never sends. A page-view pixel is not the cart Woo recorded. Guest shoppers are harder to match until you have an email (guest checkout).

Intercom cannot recover carts it never hears about.

What events matter

Cart item added starts enabled. Cart item removed, cart emptied, cart viewed, and checkout reached sit on the same screen. Cart abandoned and checkout abandoned are separate events for logged-in shoppers. Set the delay to 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours. The default is 1 hour. Placing an order cancels the pending abandonment job, so a completed purchase stays off the recovery path. Related: send orders.

Browse events are ready to enable alongside the cart: product viewed and category viewed (each limited to once every 30 minutes), site search (once every 5 minutes), and product reviewed, including guest reviewers. Wishlist support covers YITH WooCommerce Wishlist and TI WooCommerce Wishlist. Coupon applied fires when a logged-in shopper applies a code in the cart. Coupon used fires when a placed order includes a code, guests included.

Build the loop

Step 1
Install and connect

Install Sync Engine for Intercom and connect with OAuth or an Access Token.

Step 2
Enable cart/checkout event sync

Turn on the cart and checkout events you need, including abandoned cart and abandoned checkout with your chosen delay.

Step 3
Create the Intercom trigger

Create an Intercom audience or trigger on those events, then write the message and incentive policy. That part is your marketing call.

Step 4
Suppress completed purchases

Suppress if the order completed. Respect consent. Do not double-send Woo email and Intercom without rules.
